Bush (not one of the aforementioned smart people) is a lying, dishonorable, greedy, self-serving, cowardly, drug-addled, dangerous piece of shit.

That would go without saying, except for the fact that so many of those smart morons need to hear it said over and over just so they'll start to become peripherally aware that their absolute conviction is not universally appreciated. Forget trying to get them to see reason, though.

The smug little bastards are ever so happy that they've contributed to finally getting his sorry ass "legitimately" elected. They blythely ignore or were completely ignorant of (given their choice of news source, this is understandable) all the many acts of voter fraud and voter intimidation committed by the Republican Party and by various Republican supporters.

But they got theirs, and that's all that matters. Just like Republicans, thinking only of themselves.

And now one of the smart ones ("smart Republicans" should be an oxymoron, dammit, but at least it's a rarity) is mouthing some utter bullshit about us "healing the wounds of divisiveness" or some such bollocks. Wanting us to "come together" as a nation of "proud Americans".

Here's a hint for you, you blindly piouser-than-thou dipshit: your team is the rapist, the rest of us were your victims. If you think we are going to play nice just because you got off on a technicality, then I'm really going to enjoy the look on your face when the backlash catches you full on.

Many of us were willing to let you assholes be if you did the same for us. You refused. Instead, you try to force your religion into our bedrooms, you fucking literally poison our water and air, you shit on our neighbors, you sell our futures for personal gain, you send our children and parents to die for false causes, you rip up our Constitution and spit on the shreds, you put a high price on our lives that should be free.

And then you have the gall to ask us to "unite" with you?

If there is a god, you are going to burn in hell for that. In the meantime, I'm going to work at getting mine, and fuck you and the horse's ass you rode in on. Have a pretzel.

The "feeling" of being cold is quite different from the "mood" of being cold.

I am quite comfortable. It's just that I am in the mood to ask someone who they voted for before deciding whether to pull them from a burning building. Right now I feel like I could quite calmly watch a Republican wither in the flames. It'd be almost like getting a peak into their afterlife.

Well, perhaps I'm not really cold, at that. Maybe I'd pull them out and break all their voting fingers. Maybe brand their foreheads with "I <3 DICK" and toss them into a prison.

May I suggest 'predatory' or 'pissed off'?

I'm not sure I could watch anyone wither in flames... well, except for W. himself. But I have no patience for the "I'm a real Republican; I don't support Bush's policies, I just voted for him" morons. Those people need to catch a hideous disease. Preferably one for which they're seeking a cure via stem cell research.

I can't describe my mood today, it's a murky mix of too many things, but I know part of it is worry over what this country will(has?) become. I saw it coming, but that doesn't mean I was prepared.

Very true.

What example did the more prescient victims of Hitler compare him to, I wonder.

Some of them saw bad things coming, surely. What was their hobgoblin of fascism and hatred that gave them a reference point for framing their fears?

And were they constantly shouted down by "well-meaning" German patriots who said everyone should pull together and stop being so alarmist?

Germany is in danger, and we must give up a few essential liberties in order to gain security. Don't complain, because we're all part of the same team. We all feel the same responsibilities and shoulder the same burdens. We're all atheist, black, homosexual, or Jewish. Oh, wait, that's just you. Go die now, traitor.

And if you don't like it, just leave.

Very well put.

I feel your rage... Headline on the most popular newspaper here this morning: "Are these americans just - moronic?!" And that is not an intellectual paper, mind you, it's the one with all the juicy pics :-).
About this burning building: When Ronnie was elected, I loudly declared that here was a guy that I could, actually, shoot on sight. My Ex. was quite shocked. The day after, he pointed an elderly man out to me, sitting on a bench in a park. He said: "Imagine this is RR. You have a gun. You will not be seen. Are you really doing it?!" I had to confess that I would not. I am not capable of such hatred, it seems. So I'll just be depressed some more... And a little bit scared. And feeling sorry for you guys watching your country go beyond broke...

Maybe not "shoot on sight," but...

Walking into the grocery store the other day, I spotted a parked minivan with its lights on. Noting the make, model, and color, I was going to notify the customer service counter, so they could page the owner and let them know. But then I saw a little Jesus-fish and a Bush-Cheney bumper sticker. "Nah," I thought. "They can just PRAY for their battery to start working again."

Thank you for your sympathy. Bush got 51% of the popular vote, and now he thinks he's got the Mandate of Heaven and the Will of the People.

I live in California. Hey, we have something like the 5th or 6th largest economy in the world, just in this state... and we didn't vote for Bush... my supposedly "conservative" city of San Diego just elected a last-minute Democratic write-in candidate for mayor...

Maybe California could secede from the United States! I wonder if it would be best if we were our own republic, or if we could respectfully ask Canada to annex us?

Maybe he did, maybe he didn't.

What with all the proven voter fraud going on prior to the election and the proven flaws with the conservative designed electronic voting system and the deliberately uninvestigated problems during and after the actual voting process, I will never concede that he actually won the vote.

He may have, but it could just be a scandal waiting to be uncovered. We might never know.

They knew about all this shit early on, but they did nothing to fix it. That tells me they are not honestly elected, regardless.

Given my current situation, I'm trying hard to see if Japan is a viable option in the next two months. It's not looking hopeful. :-(

Voter fraud

Hm. What, Naruki, could you possibly be referring to?

  • that the people responsible for testing security of these machines decided not to, because security was "not applicable"? (View entry for November 7th.)
  • that Walden O'Dell, the chief executive of Diebold, wrote in a fundraising letter to Ohio Republicans, that he is "committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president next year"? (Story from August 2003)
  • that in 2000 Al Gore was given minus 16,000 votes...from a precinct with only 600 voters? one link among many

Al Gore?

Dang, first time I'd heard that one. Not surprising, in retrospect.

Our major media reporters have been incredibly lax about dogging the real stories. Meh.

It' s the "mandate from heaven" part...

...that really scares me/us. Freaky. We have our own stem cell research -"voting" on the 28th. (We vote on decisions too, not only for people, here.) We'll just have to wait and see if this weirdness has caught on big time here, as well. We have those fundamentalists, of course. Only up to now, they were not such a big nuisance...

Aww..

{{{Naruki}}} You make me feel all warm and fuzzy. :P

I've been trying to figure out if maybe I've been wrong, and that the only reason this election was so much more important than any other was my awareness of the issues, and awareness of what a dangerous man W is.

I don't think so. I think the Shrub really is as bad as I think he is, which makes me very angry with, and very disappointed in those who voted for him, for whatever reason. I can't find it in me to be less angry because someone voted the party line, or because they really felt W made us safer, or that he'll do a better job on terrorism. Each of those shows a remarkable stupidity, and none is 'better' than another.
That these morons then go on to preach their separatist ways, while at the same time, out of the other side of their mouths, condemn us for not just tossing our concerns out the window and holding hands like the damned teletubbies just further illustrates their stupidity, angers me further, and makes it ever less likely that I will ever have any respect for them.

Bush was evil before, and he's still evil. I won't be praising him anytime soon, I'm certain.

I need to clarify.
"I've been trying to figure out if maybe I've been wrong, and that the only reason this election was so much more important than any other was my awareness of the issues, and awareness of what a dangerous man W is.

I meant, as opposed to other, previous presidents or candidates being just as dangerous, but perhaps I just was not aware of it at the time.

In other words, have the choices always been so serious, so important, so critical, and I simply haven't noticed? I don't think so.
