It's taken long enough, but the lawsuit has finally been filed against the city of New York for its heinous crimes during the RNC earlier this year.

I've actually talked to some conservatives about that "incident", and their responses made me long to grab a baseball bat.

Some were in smarmy denial, saying that it didn't happen. Some tried to justify it by saying that everyone arrested was breaking the law. Some just shrugged it off as a non-event, probably because it wasn't happening to them. Bastards.

I've serious doubts that anything good will come of this lawsuit, but I will hope anyway.

He he he.

I wouldn't want to stink up my basement like that if I had a basement. And that'd be before beating them.

Naw, I'd rather take it to their homes, where it'd be weeks before anyone noticed the smell actually getting worse. Although the lack of ranting at the "liberal" media might alert family members...

Please keep us posted!

Something rather similar went down here with the protests around the Davos forum. No luck in the lawsuit whatsoever. And last year protesters hung themselves from a rope that was strung over a bridge in Geneva - one on each side. Police cut the rope, letting one guy fall into a dry riverbed. He broke both his legs and a hip. No go in the lawsuit. Shouldn't have been there, was all...

He hung himself to die, or just to be suspended?

Cause if he was trying to suicide, then I don't have much sympathy for him. To me, it's far better to suicide for a political statement by taking the head bastard out with you. At least that way you get rid of two idiots and might actually accomplish something good.

If he was just suspended, though, I can see that being a horrible thing for the police to do. But if it blocked traffic, I could think of worse things... ;->

Both of them. One on each side. Pretty secure in climbing gear. Dangling those posters of some sort. There wasn't any traffic there, anyway. Lots of protesters, though. Then police cleared those off with tear-gas. And beat up some that were trying to make them see what was on that rope... Finally the police cut the rope. On one side, the guy was pulled up by his buddies, the other dropped. There was much speculation if the police knew or just thought it was any kind of traffic-blocking rope. Because that was what they claimed, of course. Still. There were several people still around, shouting and pulling the other guy up... Anyway. The badly injured man is still fighting for his expenses of treatment. Ugly story.

Sounds bad.

I hate people who screw with traffic, though, so I've got mixed feelings. Heh.

Legally, however, it should be really bad for the police.

Well:

If you could see one of our cities during another of those "summits" you would be hard pressed to decide who "screws with traffic" more, the security of the visiting VIPs or the demonstrators... Where would you suggest to stage a protest, then? Not every town has a layout like Washington. Especially not hereabouts. And parading your protest along a route has a tradition in Europe, somehow.

As much as I hate to say it...

Letting the police get away with stuff like this is just asking for trouble.

Exhaust all legal means to punish them. If that doesn't work, well, it's up to you.

Right.

There is still all kinds of "exhausting" stuff going on. But the trouble is also asked for... We'll have to wait for the next summit to see what happens. It is all sad and disgusting. I am not in the middle of things any more, I must say. But I do follow the casualties... There was one death in Genova (Italy), too.
Of a protester. Caused by police. See indimedia (org) if you want to know more.
