Has it really been 4 years since my last post? Damn.

Anyway, a little birdie told me that DeserterAt66 had just gotten the shitcanning he has so richly deserved for the last 8 years, so I thought I'd comment. I'll try to keep it succinct. :-)

So, tough call for Illiad. From my brief perusal, I gather that he is still under some personal stresses, and I hope that all improves. He's a nice guy for a centrist-leaning conservative, and I wish him well.

That said, if you are Illiad I suggest you stop reading at this point. I am about to get honest up in this motherfucker.

Illiad got one thing right: it's his fault. It has always been his fault, since it's his site. This does not at all mean it is only his fault. It is everyone else's fault, too. But you are guests where he has absolute control, and if he really doesn't like something he could stop it. So not stopping the badness is his fault. And to a lesser extent the direction of the badness is his fault, because his bias means he stops more of the bad stuff he disagrees with than the bad stuff he doesn't.

He is supposed to be a computer geek, and you'd expect someone like that to be a little more concerned about logic, if not fairness or balance. But the rules on his site are illogical, and they sometimes even contradict each other. If they were a program it would not compile.

1) Do not offend.
Except that actually following that rule will dilute ANY topic (covering politics, religion, any kind of personal preference, and sometimes even greetings) to the point of being tasteless, and not in the good way. Try a modifier, for fuck's sake.

2) Do not be easily offended.
See, you modified that one, was that so hard? Except Illiad is one of the more easily offended people there, or at least he does some Oscar-level acting as though he is.

3) The FYOSR
This one is a tacit admission that the second rule was never meant to be taken seriously, in spirit or in letter, as it is declaring a whole bunch of things as "offensive" just because of one localized cultural bias against them. Talk about blinders.

4) Freedom of speech
Just kidding. That has ever been a diminishing thing there, and it's hard to say how free it still is. Maybe if you have nothing interesting to say, it's totally free to you.

When I joined UF, it had just settled down into a place with a bit of regular form, but very little law. It was the Wild West days, and people had fun. Even Illiad. More people started showing up, and eventually Illiad and crew decided that Things Must Change.

They brought in big bad sherrifs to town, and they shot first and asked questions of the survivors. Mostly just where to bury the bodies. Free spirits started fleeing or adapting or getting the boot. In many cases that may have been a good thing, and in other cases it was a loss. Such is life.

Then after much abuse by the moderator and much more abuse by the guests, Illiad's crew decided Things Must Change, Again. And the rules got more strict, and they got more stupid. Chiefly, we were told we could insult an argument, but not the person who made the argument.

Yeah, think about that. For example:

"Hey Illiad, that rule you made up was idiotic as hell. Now, I am not saying YOU were an idiot, but your rule was."

Tell me he shouldn't feel directly insulted, and I'll tell future President Romney that you will be a great spokesliar.

Thankfully I was gone before they brought in the ultimate in condescending bullshit: the Fluffy Pink Bunnies.

Holy shit.

And based on the way Illiad described their eventual demise, he actually seemed surprised it failed.

Honestly, I am wondering if he is okay. He seemed pretty sharp when I joined, but it's like he has gotten more and more enfeebled in certain specific ways. He seems to think he can slowly wave the carrot of free speech in front of all the hungry asses and none of them will bite it. And he keeps thinking this after each and every carrot is eaten whole.

While that is all well and good, it was not really enough to make me bother dusting off this blog.

What really prompted me to speak was one little sentence in his Bye Bye DrShitstain66 speech. Really, that's it. Otherwise, I would have just said "Oh, more silliness" and moved on.

But he had to dishonestly drag me into it, and he had to do it right in the first sentence, too. Dammit.

For the same reasons I banned Naruki.

Now, there is one way to really get my interest piqued, and that is to lie about me in a bad way. And make no mistake about this: Illiad is lying.

I was banned not because of what I did, but because DrAssMuncher66 lied about being offended and Illiad chose that as a convenient (if incredibly obvious) excuse to get rid of a thorn in his side.

It is still right there in the comments, unless they have deleted it out of shame and a hope that the past will remain buried if nobody can prove it happened. DrLiesALot66 made a horrible analogy (typical for conservatives), I pointed out how absurd it was with a spot-on analogy, and he pretended it was meant in some ridiculous manner that you have to use special Chinese mental gymnastics to understand (yet another typical conservative ploy; see the "lipstick on a pig" manufactured outrage against Obama for a shining example).

Illiad pretended that I had done what DogMolester66 said, even though he never gave me a chance to defend myself until the decision was made. Judge, Execution, and wasn't there supposed to be a trial in there? Not in Illiad's Kangaroo Court.

The thing is, Illiad is too smart to have actually bought that bullshit. So why would he have done it?

Two things come to mind, and I can only speculate that they might be valid. I only know that Illiad is unlikely to tell the truth about his motivation, so speculation is all I have.

First, he is a center-leaning conservative, despite patting himself on the back for being all rational and better than the extremists. As if being "centrist" is somehow superior. So in that light, perhaps he took my constant critiques of the right wing idiots personally.

But I like to think Illiad is a bit better than that. Smarter, more scrupulous, or at least honest with himself. The other thing is, he's a business man. UF is his business (or one of them), and I was making the right wing of UF very, very unhappy.

And many on that wing paid money, because to them paying money means they get special service and are better human beings and deserve what should be taken from the others in order to give to them. "Entitled" is far too mild to describe their dysfunction. But they pay money. Or maybe just having more bodies causes Illiad to get money from ads, who knows?

The point is, I pissed off a large segment of UF. I did so knowingly, proudly, and without remorse. I would do so again if allowed back, because I didn't try to piss off conservatives, I pissed off idiots. That conservatives were a majority of those idiots should not surprise anyone. That Illiad would pander to them, however, surprised a lot of people.

Some were so dismayed that they left UF. While a tiny bit of that may have been a sense of loyalty to me, mostly it was the sense of betrayal from Illiad that drove them away. They finally had clear proof he was not going to uphold the very (conflicted) rules he posted in a fair or balanced manner, and they either felt their own time was coming or they just couldn't stomach the hypocrisy.

DrEatsShitAndGrins66 was merely the tool he used to rid himself of this problem.

And that was probably Illiad's stupidest moment at UF. He could have banned me at another time by simply announcing it, without regard to an obviously cocked up excuse. There is no doubt I insulted people, because I am not insane and I know that insulting someone's idea is the same thing as insulting them. An honest pretext for kicking me out would have ruffled far fewer feathers than shooting me in the back for being accused of theft by the guy with the stolen TV in his hands.

So congratulations Illiad for finally taking out the trash, albeit far too late. Too bad you threw away your integrity long before.

[And a special "Fuck you" to SouthPawPL for the support of the real troll and the slander of me. You knew better, and now you've changed.]

...

Yeah, so it turns out the word "succinct" was on one of the pages of my dictionary that is missing. Did I nail it?

Yup, he got swatted out for the same reason you did, ages ago. Knowing where the line was and dancing on it instead of respecting it.

Course if I had my druthers I'd have let you back by now. I don't believe in bans of more then 1 year.

How I have missed your postings nailed to the inside of glass in bright pixels, shining against the bullshit. You are right. The only reason you were booted and he was kept was due to Illiad's leaning to pander. The one with the missing 6 made the board a worse place on a regular basis for the period I visited. When his minions pulled all that crap on me, none of them were banned either, and what they did warranted it.

All the things I would wish that Breitbart would have taken to the grave with him are embodied in horrible humans like him, Jabba the Rush, any of the current GOP candidates, and all their happy little authoritarian toadies. The Wild West of the Internet has been supplanted by some ghastly mercantile orgy, tamed only by popularity and nothing denoting true value. Even the social media has a certain clout, but those who make the world a worse place cannot be shunned into shame. They are shameless.

Those who delight in frenzies of fear of gays, women, minorities, immigrants, and the poor do not think of shame. They do not think. They feel so afraid, so threatened, so skeeved out by other humans who are trying to live their lives with as much liberty and dignity as they can. The bat shit contingent will never see that their cries of liberty are hollow, for all they want to do with their liberty is to deprive others of theirs. I wonder how hypnotized in delusion one has to be to refuse to see concrete reality in front of you. They are impervious to facts. They call shenanigans on statistics, no matter what the source because they've internalize the equivalence of "lies, damned lies, and statistics" for so long, they think it's always true.

Every time I see an article on some research showing atheists know more about the Bible than believers, I remember all my atheist friends are so much smarter than my Christian friends. You, Blackbyrd2, and a number of others could out-logic some of the devout with your frontal lobes tied behind your occipitals. The other study that showed Faux Noise viewers were actually more misinformed than people who don't consume news at all made me wonder how anyone who called himself logical could use Faux and other bogus websites as a valid source for any argument they made. You might as well link the National Enquirer. That should have mattered and it didn't and it doesn't, not to them. To us it matters. Truth matters. Facts matter. Logic matters.

No matter now, though. I think it's too late. I think we've passed the tipping point or it's coming up pretty soon and we're unlikely to do anything about it. Humanity is doomed, yet it's hard to weep for the beauty of it when it's overpowered by so much ugly.

Meh, strange days indeed.

Wow. Pigs will fly, next...

After finally finding the "incident" (you could have linked, naruki!) I actually didn't see much of a difference from several threads I read while periodically checking back.
Somehow, this must have either been that straw/camel thing (rather the ton of bricks/mouse, on that side of the argument.)
Or just the fact that finally, some people have appeared who seem to be just as disgusted as I was, for one, back in the days...

So yeah, congratulations, somewhat. Too little, too late. I still won't be going back.
You diagnosed that accurately up there.
("Surprised", more than "betrayed" - but certainly, the bias is there and will be there in the future...)

Obviously my Great Wall of Text was too effective at blocking your Mongol Horde of Comprehension from gleaning a simple fact: you are wrong.

I was not kicked out for that reason because the trigger was complete bullshit: I was not "skirting the line" in that exchange, not in any way, shape, or form. Using an absurd (but accurate) analogy to highlight the absurdity of someone's argument is standard and respectable debate practice.

Had Illiad kicked me out while stating it had nothing at all to do with the Rat's manufactured outrage, you would have had a point, as I already said. But he didn't, and you don't.

Good luck with that comprehension thing.

Well, there were many links I could have made, but I realized how great an effort it would have been to find them. And I'm lazy. So there you don't go. :-)

Don't worry about the idiots: the non-existant global warming will get them when they least expect it. Us too, but you can't make the pan-omelette without breaking all the eggs.

I could say the same "good luck" to you but I wouldn't insult yha, cause you know I do giv a shit about you.

YOu'd been skirting the edge, and dancing on it for years, and you've decided to blame DR, and your bitter. The wall of text boils down to "I'm bitter, I blame DR, I feel good that he's punished" you could take that he's gone as proof the system works, eventually, instead you took it that it's terminally broken.

Pointedly, who am I to stop yha?

Yes, that was one stunt, of many, dr shouldn't have pulled, but if your still upset enough to let it have this much of an effect on you, after this much time... well, all I can really say is I wish it hadn't hurt you that deeply, you don't deserve to be hurt like that, nobody does.

Simply parroting me wouldn't work because you also have to have a valid point.

I know exactly what I had been doing: following the rules. Same as everyone else, for the most part. I didn't even get close to skirting the rules that time, but that didn't matter because it was a pretext.

But I said all this more than once, and people like you still refuse to go back and examine the evidence because you have an axe to grind. So I'll just move on to your new material.

I blame DR for being a douche, same as Illiad is blaming him now. I blame Illiad for being dishonest then and now. And I blame you for your misbehavior now. But bitter? Hardly.

I got over my disgust with the dishonesty and brokenness of the "system" years ago. Whatever "system" you think is in place doesn't work because it can't possibly work. I said as much, but I still don't think you get it.

What actually affects me is fresh slander, which is another thing I already said. There may come a time when UF-related childishness like yours is so far forgotten that I won't even rise to new lies about me, but that time isn't now. For now, I like to set the record straight, despite not being able to do it in the place I am being attacked.

Oh, wait, that was another one of those rules in the "system" you think works: don't attack people who can't defend themselves. Yeah, that one never had a chance, either.

I would recommend you stop making yourself look foolish by pretending to have some insight into my emotional state, but I know that is wasted effort. Too many people think they can be Freud from afar, and laughing at their silly diagnoses doesn't seem to slow them down a whit. I guess it's good you have a hobby, though.

Well, I almost walked off because you where trying to lump me in with those that attacked you, but I think I'm going to say something first.

No, I wasn't attacking you, I was trying to be sympathetic in my own half assed way, as you can tell I'm not very good at it.

But you've managed to "win" this, I've gone from wanting to care about you, to not caring. Bye.

Blatantly insulting me is a pretty shitty way of caring. Hope you figure that out someday soon.
