I just got tagged (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] saminz), and now I have to find 5 people whose names I know that haven't been tagged yet. Bugger.

Ground Rules: The first player of this "game" starts with the topic "5 weird habits of yours" and people who get tagged need to write an LJ entry about their 5 quirky habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 5 people to be tagged and list their names.

Okay, so I'm probably the most normal person I know. (Quiet, you lot. I don't really know you!) But I'll pick some habits that are slightly less common and hope that suffices for "weird"..

  1. When walking, I sometimes do the finger agility test by touching my thumb to each fingertip in turn as quickly as I can.

  2. I like to talk in accents, and often mimic someone who has one while talking to them.

  3. I take a long time peeling an orange because I try to get all the white stuff off. Likewise, when buttering bread I have to completely cover the surface.

  4. I sometimes wonder if these memes are just research conducted by secretive organizations seeking to better control citizens.

  5. I crack my knuckles one-handed.

That took forever, and I cheated on #4. Dangit, I just don't have enough habits. Or at least I cannot remember them. Well, just to end this madness, I will try to find people who will probably never respond. So I will tag [livejournal.com profile] ogw, [livejournal.com profile] johnnyorigami, [livejournal.com profile] breeze_block, [livejournal.com profile] the_real_egaeus, and [livejournal.com profile] thegingerninja.

But by the time I post this, they'll probably have already been tagged and posted their own. Buggrit.

I am shocked and intrigued by number five.

Five, like the number the hour hand would be pointing to if I had an analogue timepiece availible. But I don't, so it'll have to be five as in the law of fives; as in five tons of flax; as in Harry Potter and the Mystery of Anthrax. Cough cough.

Thanks for going to the trouble :-).

I am curious to see Mr. Origamis answers, too :-)! Probably eating live little furries for breakfast, or something.

So, what accents can you do? I have a friend like that, by the way. He is constantly mimicking my swiss-german and laughing himself silly. Native language is spanish, so he really has a hard time with the chs...;-).

Cracking knuckles will give you arthritis sooner or later, you know?

Which accents I can do depends on whom you ask.

Native speakers may say none. ;-)

Gullible people may say any.

Without prompting I tend to stick to the ones I've heard most often or most recently.

Aha. Japanese, then :-D. I'm sure I would be awfully impressed...

I can do Baseldytsch, if pressed. And Bernese Oberländisch. No, really!

Well, not really.

Mostly Great Britain type accents, since they made up the bulk of my foreign TV experience when I was younger.

In high school once I was asked to read a passage in a German accent. At the time, I could only remember the old comedy show Hogan's Heroes where Colonel Klink always sounded like he was pissed off.

I got some very strange looks.

I'm sure that must have been hilarious! Really - we love tourists that try harder ;-P. And I could show you some pretty nasty Manchester samples right here. Not to mention the Oxford madness. Vitamins? Without the I ;-)? Can't get over that, I tell you. Tomahtoes? And you should hear our englishmen in french! Soountey ;-)? Sirmad for Zermatt? ChampSeleeseys? There's no end to it.

Oh - blast. Why do you guys have to live so far away :-D?!

Heh. Seems that every friend that does this meme shares a quirk with me. So every time I read one of those posts I go "Oh, I'm glad I'm not the only one!"

You're not.

I get as much of the damn membrane off as possible (a task make significantly easier if you manhandle the unwrapped citrus fruit first). I do one and two, as well. You're not cleared to know why I don't do fnourd.

Tsk.

Having to resort to misconstruions to appease your guttermind these days?

No.

I meant the first one on the list. As far as I knew, I was the only one who did that. I picked it up in college when helping my friend the nursing student practice an examination.

Weirdo.
