That's what has caused the death of three people here in New England. Hamster crap, to be specific.

I have heard this story on the news recently, but not really paid much attention. Tonight, as I was surfing the net, the story aired on the TV with an update. They found the store where the hamster came from.

The one I used to do volunteer work at. Wow.

I didn't know there was a viral infection possible from rodent fecal matter, other than the usual "feces==bad" thing we're taught when younger. I knew about getting toxoplasmosis from changing the cat litter (and got me out of that job during my "breeding years").

The virus is mostly harmless to healthy humans, but the transplant recipients receive massive immunosuppressants.

The preceding opinions are what I understood from a casual skimming of the articles and may not be 100% factual. Believe at your own risk. :-)

Totally off topic comment...

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks dude.

I had a great time in the pub last night Naruki-ing a poor little naive PhD. Unfortunately I gave in after about an hour and fessed up that I did actually agree with her point of view and was just having fun with her poor argument skills. Bless.

So anyway. Thanks.
Hope you're well etc. Best wishes.
*hugs*
