Slammie Hates Fair Play
Jan. 7th, 2007 10:32 pmIn an attempt to stop the irony of cluttering Nea's post about people messing up her space (my sincerest apologies, Nea!), I am bringing the crap into my own LJ.
Given one party's past history of deleting his embarrasing posts when he's been argued into a corner, I must also quote the original exchange here for posterity. In fact, this will free Nea up to delete it from her LJ. (But get ready for the offensive, I mean offended, party to make his repeated and legally ignorant complaints about copyright infringement.)
This post may come as a terrible shock to some of you (those who haven't heard of the moon landing or computers or, most charitably,
slamlander). Slammie-poo now claims to have initially blocked access to his blog in order to prevent spammers:
But then his second reply just got even more outrageous. I had to reply substantively again:
So far, I haven't misconstrued a single thing he's said, but that is standard intellectual coward tactics: claim the opposition "just doesn't understand me" and dodge the question. Do you know anyone like that? Are they Republican, by chance? Or "Libertarian" but vote Republican? Just wondering...
Slammie's claims of copyright infringement are not only legally misguided, but they are hypocritical in the extreme. He has often quoted statements made by others in discussion with himself, and that is all I am doing. Had I copied significant portions of his online "works" (literary, not discussions), then he would have a case.
But that is a minor secondary issue. It was presented here and previously as Slammie's childish excuse for running away from his lost arguments and deleting the evidence. Such cowardice!
He prefers hiding in his own backyard and taking potshots at people who cannot respond. That is his right, but when he spreads his lies in public I cannot in good conscience allow them to go unchallenged.
He is not the worst offender from UF, but he is a good bit more intelligent than most of them and thus should be held to a higher standard. So, Slammie (who is most likely not reading this, but I could be wrong), do you stand for Free Speech or not?

slamlander said January 4th, 2007 01:10 pm (local):The sheer Bushian hypocrisy of this lie forced me to respond, even though I had misgivings about polluting Nea's post:
My LJ has been set like that, for exactly those reasons, for years. I'm surprised that you haven't been spammed to death ages ago ;)
naruki_oni said January 6th, 2007 08:19 am:I was right - he did not find that comforting. He reiterates his lie (I followed the progress of his blog access changes quite closely at the time, but he has altered his own memory of events):
Not true.
You may have made that up after the fact to make yourself feel good, but that is not the reason you did it.
You started out by screening comments, then banning specific posters (me, then a few others), and finally by blocking anyone not on your list.
The simple truth is you are still the kind of person who likes to take potshots at people without the embarrassment of having them point out your mistakes in the same forum.
Sort of like a sniper.
I will admit that you are a more respectable coward than the others who have done the same thing (including one who actually was a sniper), but I doubt you'll find that comforting.
slamlander said January 6th, 2007 04:53 pm:Slammie lying to make himself look smarter is not what I would call "news". Unless that was modified by the word "old". So I made an attempt to get him to do the adult thing and move the conversation elsewhere:
Re: Not true.
Talk about sniping ...
I got news for you, I would have set that anyway. What I did about you was to ban you. It's the same reason that my wiki's require user registration before I allow edits.
naruki_oni said January 6th, 2007 10:11 pm:Naturally, the adult thing is something that 50+ year old man is not yet mature enough to do. In fact, he had to double up his replies because he couldn't lie enough in just one:
I just did.
Talk about sniping, that is. This isn't it, since you obviously can respond.
If you have a point to make, take it to UFieLand where you'll have a chance to defend yourself, and you'll need that chance.
I only commented once here because your self-righteous comment demanded it. Beyond that, I do not wish to sully her diary.
Be the man you claim and step outside. ;-)
slamlander said January 7th, 2007 02:36 am:Oh ho ho, very amusing. No time for debate, so he spends time debating. Or, mostly, making longwinded excuses for "not" debating (but still debating). He makes the tired old accusation of trolling to avoid actually responding to my point (ad hominem). Then he pretends to be offering constructive criticism by suggesting where I should go. Okay, I'll give him that one.
Re: I just did.
No. ... Not no but HELL NO!
I have no desire for acrymonious debate with you or anyone else, especially on an inane topic such as this. It would be a waste of time and I have books and three code projects to get out that are behind schedule.
Neither do I have the time for trolls such as you, sir! Go relieve your boredom somewhere else, like an Open Source project or something else that is actually constructive.

One more point
Oh, I can't really respond here either. Unlike you, I respect my friend's journals. Also, since you like to violate author's copyrights, I will never post in Narukiland.
But then his second reply just got even more outrageous. I had to reply substantively again:
naruki_oni said January 7th, 2007 06:05 am:Will he rise to the challenge and debate in a free and fair forum? Dear reader, if you don't know the answer by now, I will have to ask you to remove the "Bush/Cheney 2004" bumper sticker from your car.
Congratulations!
It takes a special kind of hypocrite to contradict himself in the same post. And you managed to do it in the same sentence. Twice, in fact, as the first two sentences separately contradict the reality of your actions.
As far as I know, there is no Narukiland. I don't use my own LJ so much, but you are welcome to post there. I have never deleted a post there, and I have taken pains to ensure the integrity of conversations so nobody can claim unfair treatment.
But I was talking about UFieLand. True, I have been given supervision of it, but that hasn't stopped people of integrity or trolls like monkeywhatsit from posting. So you can't really make any claims against that.
Again, if you have anything worth saying, why not take it to a place where all sides get a chance to speak? Do you stand for freedom of speech or not?
slamlander said January 7th, 2007 08:05 am:And that is when I decided we'd done enough damage to Nea's wonderful blog (go read it!) and did what cowardlander would never dare risk - bring it to a place where free speech is respected (indeed, enforced diligently).
Re: Congratulations!
You are purposely misconstruing what I said. One reason I won't argue with you. Another is that there is no point. What's in it for me? You know very well that Narukiland is my name for Ufieland.
If you really want me there then you can start by complying with my last requests there. You can then promise not to copy my work ever again. You will either comply or resign yourself to never seeing me there. At that point, I might chose to fight with you there. However, since I don't have much time for playground battles, I wouldn't hold any breaths, were I you.
ciao.
