Tonight's lasted about a half a minute, but it wasn't as violent as the last one. The cats couldn't even be bothered to get upset.

In other news, I'm definitely looking forward to Friday. A chance to unwind and gossip about how bad the company is. Which is not to say I would normally do such things, but we are spammer-friendly, so I think management deserves some nice behind the scenes ass-kicking.

Some of us have made protests, and a colleague even quit - until they begged him to come back because they need him so badly. But they so far have only reassured us that they will be doing what they can to fix the problem.

Having a little bit of experience with management, I know what that means. It means the same thing as when Bush says he will investigate why Katrina was such a disaster, or why Plame's name started a blame game, or why many major Republican leaders are under investigation, or... Well, you get the picture. They are hoping we will go along with the transparent ruse and pretend that everything is hunky dory.

I'm not rushing out to look for the next job. I have responsibilities, plus I'm not in a hurry to leave my new friends. But this situation will eventually be resolved one way or another. *sigh*

I think the planet is trying to shake, wash and spin us off it. The old girl is getting sick of her primate children who are exhausting her resources like a Republican in a poor neighborhood. What next? Will Yellowstone erupt in our lifetimes?

Only some of us, then.

Wait for the Avian flu pandemic. It will take care of the ones who live safely away from fault lines, coast lines and tornado alleys.

Well, you might count those winters...!

Here, even the "summer" looked like some nasty revenge.

I hope things improve, but I'm familiar with this routine.

Just as an aside, there seem to be a lot of people losing their jobs over blog entries. While I would think you could defend yourself well over here, over there might be a different matter. I've taken to making most of my job related posts friends-only.

I have a better defense...

They don't speak English (the guy who quit is the translator). ;-p

You are correct, of course, but I will take my chances. I haven't identified my company, so they cannot claim any material losses. And they know they need me (which is actually a strong incentive to stay, realizing how much I can improve their licit endeavors).

In any event, should they make the unsound decision to let me go, getting another job here will be fairly easy. I actually had to choose between two offers within the first month, and more were coming.

Last time I checked, the odds of an Avian flu pandemic were rather tiny.

It is said, by the national health department, that *if* an Avian flu pandemic were to reach Norway, about 30.000 would die from it - which is 0,6 percent of the population.

I can understand your being irate about mankind - but it's going to take more than that to wipe us off planet Earth.

Maybe is time for me to move to Japan. Of course, I would be the stupid, non-japanese-speaking gaijin, but hey..if they pay me and I can buy rice, I'm happy. :P

Nah, too dangerous.

You might meet Naruki in person, and find out The Answer. And your brain would just implode, or something.

(No, not the *42* answer. The one to which the question is "A/S/L?!?!?!".)

(Although, hey, that might be The Question to that answer anyway.)

I don't know if you go play in Myspace, but there is apparently starting a debate "war" amongst pagans, christians and athiests, which looks like it could be interesting. The forum will be heavily moderated (gee I wonder why). They are looking for judges who will rate each post using various criteria, and I think you are the Right Person For The Job.

http://groups.myspace.com/myspacebattlefield is the link.

I may be getting into this. Depends on how much time they expect me to put in.

I thought you might be interested in the [livejournal.com profile] gendershifters comm. No idea why :)
